Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit -Part 2
Poor in Spirit- those who admit their spiritual inadequacy and cast themselves on mercy of God (Mathew 5:3). The poor in spirit are the opposite of proud, the arrogant the self righteous who boast of their own goodness.
Consequently, Jesus parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Like 18:9-14) illustrate this contrast. The Gospel of Luke declares, “Blessed are you poor for yours is the kingdom of God (Luke 6:20).” The poor in spirit are those who look to the Lord for justice, mercy, and deliverance, and not to themselves
