Preparing Without Fear

This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.” Genesis 41:36

Focus: Preparation is not fear. Wise stewardship can be an expression of trust.

Knowing a “famine” or hardship is coming can naturally trigger fear. However, Joseph shows that God gives revelation not to terrify us, but to prepare us. Wisdom tells us what to do with the facts rather than stressing over them.

Preparation isn’t necessarily evidence that we don’t trust God. Joseph prepared during abundance because wisdom recognized what was coming.

So:

Faith doesn’t eliminate preparation.

And preparation doesn’t have to become anxiety.

Reflection:
“How can I prepare wisely while still trusting God?”

Before we react:
Be still.

Before we panic:
Know God.

Before we decide:
Seek wisdom.

Before we compare:
Remember identity.

Prayer: Lord, Thank You for being a God who prepares us and provides for us. Help us learn from examples like Joseph, who recognized the importance of wisdom, preparation, and stewardship. Teach us the difference between preparing with wisdom and living in fear. Give us courage to look honestly at our decisions, make adjustments when needed, and trust You through the process. Father, help us not be controlled by fear of what may happen tomorrow, but help us be faithful with what You have placed in our hands today. Give us hearts that are willing to learn, willing to change, and willing to follow Your guidance. Show us where our trust is planted. May our roots grow deeper in You so that we can stand through every season. Amen.
