Prayer And Fasting
How Do You Approach Fasting?
With humility and asking God for help. You and God coming into agreement that you are going to come and engage in a period of time that you are going to deny your flesh. It’s stepping away from the material world.Fasting is not magical it’s a spiritual discipline you engage in, to brings your flesh under subjection.
Why Am I Fasting?
The bible teaches us to fast and pray. It’s not a thing of the past. It’s a thing of the present.
Deepen my relationship with God. In doing so, I hope to: Have renewed vision for the future.
See where God is leading you in 2020.
Increase prayer time.
Benefits of fasting
It breaks bad habits
Health benefits. It rids your body of chemicals, toxins and sugars. This is a great thing.
Less hungering after food, more hungering after God and his truths.
It refocuses our priorities, which should always start with Jesus Christ.
Scripture Text: Isaiah 58:6-7
Paraphrased in the Message bible: Christian fasting, at its root, is the hunger of a homesickness for God
