Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to meTell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.Exodus 14:15–16
Focus: “Be still” and “go forward” are not contradictions
Tell the Israelites to go forward.
Israel was told to move toward the sea before any escape route was visible. Then, God instructed Moses to raise his staff to part the waters, allowing the people to cross on dry ground. Their progress would show that deliverance comes from the LORD and that His people should trust His word when situations seem impossible. The Israelites are urged to act in faith, emphasizing that faith requires action, not just belief.
.The Apostle Paul wrote in the book of Romans, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” God is our source of hope, joy and peace in the times of trouble. All we need to do is put our trust in Him.
Reflection: Jeremiah 17:7 says, “blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him” and Psalm 120:1 says, “I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.” Take a moment to examine the position of your heart. Do you really trust in His deliverance? Is your faith strong, or are you barely holding on? He can meet you wherever you are; even on the shores of impossibility, He can make a way. Choose to have faith today and take heart because He’s the God of the impossible.
Prayer: Lord, teach us when to stop and when to go.
Help us not to confuse waiting with disobedience or movement with faith. Sometimes You call us to be still, and sometimes You say, “Go forward.”
Give us ears to hear Your direction and courage to obey it. Help us move from fear into faith, not because we know everything that will happen, but because we know You are with us.
