Love and compassion always make a difference. We truly understand pure love and compassion when we personally experience God’s love. Recognizing who God is and how deeply He loves us is essential. In Isaiah 6:8, we find an awe-inspiring depiction of God’s holiness—His glorious ‘set-apart-ness.’ Additionally, Ephesians 2:6 declares that God ‘raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,’ all because of ‘His great love for us.’ As Christians, we can both revere God’s holiness and be united with Him—not due to our own efforts or actions, but solely because of His grace and mercy. Ephesians 2:8 emphasizes, ‘It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.’
Knowing we are God’s workmanship shields us from feelings of worthlessness (e.g., “I feel useless”) and guards against the danger of becoming ‘puffed up’ with pride (e.g., “I’m better than other people”). We are reminded that, in essence, God has created us—we are His masterpiece. Some translations even describe the Church as God’s ‘masterpiece’. True humility involves embracing what our Creator God has designed us to do, rather than arrogantly pursuing our own paths. What an incredible revelation—that the Maker of the Universe and the architect of countless stars calls us, His Church, His crowning work of art! Furthermore, God has ‘good works’ and a unique plan for your life today, having prepared it long before you were born! Now, that is truly something to celebrate and for which to thank God!
Micah 6:6-8 provides a profound blueprint for humility as we recognize the greatness of God. Instead of merely displaying outward signs of religiosity to gain the admiration of others, we are encouraged to “walk humbly with your God.” Our humble walk is a response to God being our magnificent Creator, yet we are granted the privilege to walk alongside Him, reflecting His boundless love for us. What a humbling thought this truly is!

Call to action – Spend some time thanking God for the plan He has for your life, and ask him to help you walk into his purposes for you—the ‘good works’ He prepared for you. Could God be calling you to a new ministry or Christian opportunity?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being so kind to me. You are the perfect example of someone who acted justly, loved mercifully, and walked humbly. I ask You to help me live in the same way as I seek to become more like you. May Your Spirit continue to mold in me these qualities and grow in me the fruit of kindness. I love you Jesus! Amen.
