We had another meaningful time together in GROW this week as we continued walking through Exodus and reflecting on what it means to trust God in real life. As we looked at the movement of the children of Israel, several things stood out.
One comment that sparked reflection came from Exodus when Pharaoh said, “Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.” Some participants saw this as a moment of selfishness—but it also raised an interesting thought: Pharaoh had to recognize something about God to even ask for a blessing.
We also reflected on the magnitude of what was happening—over 600,000 people moving forward. This was no small task, and it highlighted that Moses’ leadership was not ordinary. It required trust, courage, and obedience in motion.
🔥 What Stood Out
A strong theme throughout the night was urgency.
The Israelites had to move quickly leaving without having everything fully prepared. Even the small details, like carrying their dough and kneading troughs wrapped in clothing, showed us that the little things matter when God is moving.
We reflected on how obedience often requires movement without full understanding, and how God uses both big moments and small details to shape us.
This led to honest reflection.
“There was a reflection around how procrastination can delay obedience…” “There was also reflection on the tension…” stepping out, seeing nothing happen, and how difficult it can be to try again. Yet, there was growth in recognizing that:
👉 Growth is not fast—it is gradual.
👉 And we have to keep moving forward anyway.
💭 Personal Reflection
There was a powerful moment around intentional listening.
We reflected on being intentional in listening while reading Scripture. As a result, there was a renewed desire to slow down and truly hear God—learning from Him at the pace He sets.
We have come to understand that at times we had not always taken God’s prompting seriously, sometimes dismissing it. But now, there is a need to respond with greater urgency and awareness.
There was also honesty about fear:
- Fear of stepping out and nothing happening
- Fear of getting it wrong
- Wrestling with, “Is this me or is this God?”
Yet even in that tension, there was clarity:
👉 Obedience matters
👉 Small steps matter
👉 Growth happens as we continue
🌿 The Power of Community
We shared how meaningful it is to be in a small group like this—
a space where we can learn, grow, and even start again without shame.
What once felt embarrassing now feels like growth.
That shift matters.
🧠 Reflection Questions We Wrestled With
- What small acts of obedience might you be overlooking?
- What fears or hesitations come up when you think about taking the next step?
- How does aligning your mind with God affect your ability to act with courage?
Some of these questions stretched us—especially the idea of mental alignment and how it can either move us forward or keep us stuck.
🔑 What We’re Carrying Forward
Trust in God grows when we remember what He has done,
even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.
This week, the focus is simple:
👉 Move forward in what God has shown you—even if it feels small.
👉 Don’t let hesitation or fear stop your next step.
📖 Looking Ahead (FINAL WEEK)
Next week, we will close this portion of our GROW journey as we walk through:
Exodus 12:43–50
This will be our final in-person session before we pause until September.
🙌 Final Thought
Joseph’s life reminds us of this truth:
What feels like a delay is often development. God is not just taking you somewhere—
He is shaping you along the way.
Join us Sunday at 6 PM as we close this series together.
Come ready to grow.
