Repent

We dont hear the word repent now days but in the crusades and church meetings of the past the word repent was not foreign to the church. So, perhaps its time do as King David did after his wrong doing In I Kings 11-12, David then ordered that Uriah be moved to the front-line of a battle, where he was killed.David married the widowed Bathsheba. But as we read in Psalm 51, we see a different posture King David acknowledges his trangressions and repents before God. Perhaps, God is asking the church today to do the same by acknowledging our transgressions and repenting before the father in total surrender. Let us revisit what it means to become Godly sorrowful for our own sins and humble ourselves before Him today!

What does it mean to repent? Repenting is not just expressing our wrongdoing, it’s correcting the actions that led us to our wrongdoings. Repenting requires us to do a u-turn. It means to change your actions, to change your way of life. Repentance is more about the actions we take and not the words we say. The next time you repent don’t just say the right words, take the right steps.

Psalm 51:1-3

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Ezekiel 18:23
Do I take any pleasure
in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I prefer that he turn from his ways and live?

Ezekiel 18:32
For I take no pleasure
in anyone’s death, declares the Lord GOD. So repent and live!

Ezekiel 33:11Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
