Hope In God

image1 (4)What are you hoping for that seems Impossible in your life?

Only the enemy would tell you that the very thing you hope for will not happen. Allow me to encourage you to begin your week with hands raised in the air surrendering every weight, every care unto the Lord. And let’s get back to placing your hope in God and His promises for your life.

What is hope?

In Scripture, according to the Hebrew and Greek words translated by the word “hope” and according to the biblical usage, hope is an indication of certainty. “Hope” in Scripture means “a strong and confident expectation.” Though archaic today in modern terms, hope is akin to trust and a confident expectation.
Romans 8:24-25 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

In summary, hope is the confident expectation, the sure certainty that what God has promised in the Word is true, has occurred, and or will in accordance with God’s sure Word.

Four concepts for hope

  • Better future- Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
  • Salvation- Romans 8:24-25, For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience (Romans 8:24-25).

Renewed Hope

When we have the courage to push the reset button in our lives we can begin again with renewed hope and confident expectation and a deep inner conviction that that a good future is possible. Thus, even though not every hopeful person is courageous, every courageous person is hopeful. Hopefulness creates confidence, which, if derived from the right sources, can lead to the virtue of courage. Gravlee (2000: 471ff.) . That hope keeps us alive it keeps us breathing! Now, since we have such a hope we are very bold ( 2Cor 3.12). My prayer is that we focus our attention on Christian hope. And allow God to fill us with His love, joy and boldness and continue to stand in faith for the promised hope as Abraham did. Abraham hoped against hope until the promise was fulfilled. Romans 4:18 says, “in hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.”

3 Bible Verses about Hope:

  • “You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.”Job 11:18-19
  • “The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” -Psalm 147:11
  • “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:1-5
