James 4:6 His gift of grace is in direct opposition to the vanity of the proud mindset of self-effort, whereby people strive to prove themselves as superior to others! Gift and reward are opposites! Humility attracts grace. MIRROR
Pride goes before the fall. It’s exactly what happened to the devil. Whether you knew this or not, the devil was actually once an angel. One moment, he was in the constant presence of perfection. The next thing you know, he’s cast down from Heaven like lightning ( Luke 10:18). So, what happened? Pride.
The devil clearly thought he was better than God until he was slapped in the face with reality. He was standing tall, but he would soon fall. All of this reveals that pride originates from the innermost parts of the devil. It’s what empowered him.
In fact, at one point the devil actually thought he could be like God (Isaiah 14:14). To this day, the story has already been written. We know the eternal doom that awaits the devil. Based on his pridefully foolish nature, with that being said, let’s call pride for what it really is: demonic.
Let this be a reminder that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Let this be your reminder of the words of Jesus. He said those who exalt themselves will be humbled. Also, those who humble themselves will be exalted (Matthew 23:12). Also, accept the reality that it’s not all about an outside appearance—what’s inside matters most (see Matthew 23:26).
The proud resist God: in their understanding, they resist the truths of God; in their will they resist the laws of God; in their passions they resist the providence of God; therefore, no wonder that God resists the proud. Bible Hub

Reflections:
- How does understanding the nature of God’s grace impact your daily walk with Him?
- In what areas of your life do you struggle with pride, and how can you actively work to cultivate humility?
- Reflect on a time when you experienced God’s grace in a situation where you chose humility over pride. What was the outcome?
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the revelation of your Word. Thank you that I have been given a spirit of power and strength. Please help me to embrace grace and mercy. I want them to be part of my life. Then I can truly forgive and reign with you. Amen.
How wretched the state of those who make God their enemy! God will give more grace to the humble. They see their need for it. They pray for it and are thankful for it. Such people shall have it. Bible Hub
