Martin Luther King Jr.: A Call to Love and Service

Thank You!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech still inspires me. It encourages me to dream and have hope. I find courage for the future of my nation, my children, my family, and my world. Thank you, Dr. King. You sacrificed your life. You did this to guarantee that people around the world can experience what God has placed in our land. I thank you, Dr. King, for the sacrifice of your own very life. Let us take that as an example of our purpose here—to serve our God first and then serve others. In other words, to love God first and then love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. M. Tucker

“The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Prayer: God, we thank you for the inspiration of Jesus. Grant that we will love you with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and love our neighbors as we love ourselves, even our enemy neighbors. And we ask you, God, in these days of emotional tension, when the problems of the world are gigantic in extent and chaotic in detail, to be with us in our going out and our coming in, in our rising up and in our lying down, in our moments of joy and in our moments of sorrow, until the day when there shall be no sunset and no dawn. Amen.
