Choosing Peace: The Path to a Flourishing Home

Hebrews 12:14“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.”

The blessing is ALWAYS in obedience! Our obedience is God’s only means of protecting us.

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Hebrews‬ ‭12:14‬ ‭KJV. ‬‬ Choose the path of peace with all men. Choose to live a life that’s filled with peace. Let not gossip fill your mouth. Choose not to let bitterness fill your heart. Release the stain and sting of the past. Forgive and release others from the prison of offense. When you forgive others, you’re establishing a pathway of peace for others to follow.

Choose to show the Heart of God in all matters. Choose to follow His Peace. Choose to set an environment of peace within the borders of your home and your home will flourish. You can choose Peace or strife. A peace-filled home will flourish. A strife-filled home will soon crumble.

‬‬So let your mouth sow peace. Let the fabric of your family show His Peace. Choose to set up a blueprint and pattern of peace in every area of your life.

Choose to establish a framework of peace with all men. Take some time and step back before you speak carelessly. Assess, discern, and fill your words with grace before speaking. Proverbs‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ states, “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” Choose to season your words with grace. Let His Peace flow from your lips. Let your soft and seasoned, grace-filled response turn away wrath. ‬‬Let His Peace establish order and direction.

Wrath stirs up confusion, while peace gives clarity. Consider the consequences before sowing discord, which can stir up strife and confusion. Choose to sow peace, and you’ll reap God’s harvest.

Let peace flourish in your decision-making process. Let His Peace guide you instead of letting fear rule and dominate you. Let peace rule your tongue. Let His Peace guard your heart.

Reflections: Choose to reflect the love of Christ in every season. Choose to reflect the love of Christ in all things. Choose to reflect the love of Christ in all of your relationships. Whether you are working with colleagues or surrounded by family members, choose to follow peace with all men.

  • The Message Bible says, “Work at getting along with each other and God. Otherwise, you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God.” Hebrews‬ ‭12:14 MSG‬‬. Peace is intentional work at getting along with all men.
  • Hebrews‬ ‭12:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ declares, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone. Aim to be holy. Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” Make peace your priority.

Prayer: Lord, help me never to harbor a grudge against another. Whatever wrong they may have done, I realize it does not kill them. It kills me. Amen
