Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely, he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
There is no sorrow in Christ. Christ is not the Author of sorrow. Isaiah 53:4 AMPC declares, “Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].“
Christ carried our pain. Christ carried our shame. According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for, “Borne” is, ‘nasa’ (H5375). It means “To lift, bear up, carry, take”. It also means “lift up, carry, support, sustain, endure”. Additionally, it refers to “take, take away, carry off, forgive”. Lastly, it signifies “to be carried off, be swept away.” Christ swept away your grief. He has carried away sickness, weakness, and every distress.
In Him, there is fullness of Joy. In Him, there is Peace. In Him, there is no sorrow. Surrender to God and be made whole. There is wholeness in Him. “Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!” Isaiah 53:4 NLT
The chastisement of our peace – That is, the chastisement by which our peace is effected or secured was laid upon him; or, he took it upon himself,’ and bore it, in order that we might have peace. Bible Hub

Reflections: The Scriptures tell us that Christ draws near to the brokenhearted. In fact, the Savior draws nearest to us in our suffering and in our suffering, we draw nearest to Him. Where has suffering broken you? Are you brokenhearted? Are you experiencing affliction? First, listen to the sounds of the cross. Then draw near to Him Who not only knows your suffering but also suffered for you.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of peace that you so willingly have given me. I receive your peace and make a commitment today not to look for peace in any place other than you. I won’t be troubled or afraid anymore but will keep my eyes focused on you. I pray this in your name, Jesus. Amen.
