Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me[e] anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13, 14
Prayer offered in Jesus’ name means we are presenting all that He is. We are also presenting what He has done to the sickness or situation. Then, Jesus says that He will do it. Philippians 2:9,10 says ‘Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow’.
So, follows on from what happened before- that Jesus went to the Cross on our behalf. Jesus had laid down His rights as God He now has not just been given that right but earned it. To all the heavens He was declared to be the Son of God with power by His resurrection from the dead (Rom 1:4). To the earth, He earned the right to be Lord by laying down His life. He redeemed us from all sin, sickness, the curse and even death itself. To those under the earth, ‘He disarmed the principalities and powers. He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them’ in the Cross. Sickness must bow to the name of Jesus. Pain must leave in His name. Cancer must bow. Even death bows to the name of Jesus.
In Acts 3, Peter and John come upon a blind man begging at the temple when they are going for prayer. Peter responds, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” What I do have- we have right to release Jesus’ finished work of healing in His name. The man was healed through Jesus’ name in the same way that others were healed by Jesus Himself. In Acts 4:7 the religious leaders ask, “by what power or by what name have you done this?” It was both, just as it is today- the power of God in the name of Jesus.
Our meeting and experience of Christ will naturally prompt us to speak and do things in His power. May we avoid drawing attention to ourselves. Let us not withdraw in shame. Having experienced Christ, we can, like Peter, simply state, “We are witnesses.”
But the apostles referred all to their Lord, and refused to receive any honour, except as his undeserving instruments. This shows that Jesus was one with the Father, and co-equal with Him; while the apostles knew that they were weak, sinful men, and dependent for every thing on Jesus, whose power effected the cure. Useful men must be very humble. Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to thy name, give glory. Every crown must be cast at the feet of Christ. Bible Hub

Reflections: In the name of Jesus there is miracle, healing, restoration, and victory. The question is, do you truly believe that the name of Jesus can bring restoration for you? Whatever struggle you are facing now, believe in the name of Jesus, and victory will be yours.
Prayer: God, help my words and actions work together to be my witness. Give me eyes to see people the way You do. When I aim to meet the needs of others, help them to see You more than they see me. When You show up and others get curious, give me the words to say. Help me share who You are. Let others know what You’ve done and continue to do. Amen.
