His Word Brings Clarity

Psalm 119:105“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

God’s Word, just like a giant divine flashlight, illuminates our paths in life. The light of His Word gives us the direction and guidance we need to take the next step. As we seek Him daily through prayer and the reading of His Word, He’ll confirm the way we should go. His Word brings clarity. It is living, active, and applicable to any and every situation we face. When we come to a crossroads in life and we’re not sure which way to go, His Word reminds us to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). Do you need clarity in a situation you’re facing? Do you find yourself at a crossroads, not sure which way to turn? Let’s seek Him first daily and watch as He illuminates the next step, giving us vision and direction. Just as a flashlight in the dark reveals the next step, Jesus will show us what we need to see to move forward without stumbling in the dark.

Psalm 119;105-112(MSG)- By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order. Everything’s falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word. Adorn me with your finest sayings, God; teach me your holy rules. My life is as close as my own hands, but I don’t forget what you have revealed. The wicked do their best to throw me off track, but I don’t swerve an inch from your course. I inherited your book on living; it’s mine forever— what a gift! And how happy it makes me! I concentrate on doing exactly what you say— I always have and always will.

God’s Word serves as a guiding light for our lives. When we obey His commands, we walk in alignment with His will, and He illuminates our path, leading us in the right direction.

The word of God directs us in our work and way, and a dark place indeed the world would be without it. The commandment is a lamp kept burning with the oil of the Spirit, as a light to direct us in the choice of our way, and the steps we take in that way. The keeping of God’s commands here meant, was that of a sinner under a dispensation of mercy, of a believer having part in the covenant of grace. The psalmist is often afflicted; but with longing desires to become more holy, offers up daily prayers for quickening grace. We cannot offer anything to God, that he will accept but what he is pleased to teach us to do. To have our soul or life continually in our hands, implies constant danger of life; yet he did not forget God’s promises nor his precepts. Numberless are the snares laid by the wicked; and happy is that servant of God, whom they have not caused to err from his Master’s precepts. Bible Hub

Reflections: God continues to reveal, speak, and guide his children. Be encouraged today and make sure that you are in alignment with his will, word, and way. Then you will begin to notice God’s divine guiding power in your life. Obedience is the glue that binds the Word of God to our hearts. It binds us to other believers. If prayer is incense, then discipline is the smoke from that incense. It fills our lives and permeates the world around us. Obedience is the evidence of our faith, the evidence of the Holy Spirit working in us.

Discipline is the translation of scripture into our lives.

We cannot obey God’s word on our own. Jesus did not die and come back to life so that we could live better lives, as if we could follow God on our own. He was slain for our transgressions, He was raised for our sanctification so that He, through the Holy Spirit, could live the Christian life through us and for us.

Obedience is studying the Word of God and doing what it says by the power of the Holy Spirit living in you. If that seems impossible, know this: the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in you to accomplish more than you could ever ask, think, or imagine.

Prayer:  Lord, give me a desire to read Your Word. Place within my heart a hunger to know you better. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet, a light to my path, guiding me in Your ways.
