Do It Afraid-Confronting Fear with Faith

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely, I will help you, Surely, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Trusting God is one of the Bible’s primary themes. The words faithbelieve, and trust are seen over and over. These are ways we receive from God, and they help us develop a solid relationship with God that is not shaken even during the most difficult circumstances. They eliminate worry, and that, of course, includes worry about the future. Trust allows us to enjoy the peace that passes understanding. As a matter of fact, trusting God is what allows us to enjoy life. Without it we find no rest for our souls.

We don’t even know for sure what will happen in the next five minutes, let alone a year or more from now. After entering into a relationship with God, we begin to learn that He wants us to trust Him and to lean and rely on Him for absolutely everything. This does not mean that we do nothing while God does everything for us, but it does mean that we trust Him more than we trust ourselves or anyone else.

We have the privilege of trusting our Lord for protection, provision, strength, and wisdom—and certainly for the future. You can relax, because no matter what your future holds, God knows all about it, and He will go before you and plan your every step. Anything God asks you to do, you can do even if you have to do it afraid, knowing that He is always with you!

never forget that the only way to live free from fear is to confront it, or “do it afraid.”

Reflection: I have heard that when fear knocks on our door, we should send faith to answer. We can conquer fear, but only with faith. When the devil tells us, “You can’t,” we should remember God tells us, “You can.” Even though we may feel fear, we can move forward in faith. You can choose today to confront fear and become the courageous person God wants you to be.

Prayer: Jesus, you say you are my protector and that I have nothing to fear. I break agreements with the enemy that I am the one who protects me, not you. I confess I often want to be the strong one, believing I am alone in my decision-making. I confess that I forget you are with me in all things and in all moments. I forget You are creating moments for me, over and over again, so that I may experience You and grow deeper in my love for You.

Lead me to the safe place You have created just for me. Remind me that I can rest in You. You have everything I need. Help me to picture this place You’ve created for me to be with You. Help me to see You. Right here. Right now. Amen.
