A New Day Dawning. Peace!

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility. Ephesians 3:14

Songs are essentially just prayers. There are moments when the only song we have is a groan, a tear, or a whisper of Jesus’ name — but there’s no prayer He finds insignificant. The God who never sleeps is listening. Right now. He waits for our voice while we wait for our sunrise, and longs to reveal to us firsthand that He is the true light, the sun that never sets, and He Himself is our peace. (Ephesians 2:14)

Satan wants nothing more than to talk us out of our song. He knows far too well what we need to know: when we lose our voice, both our praise and petition, we lose precious perspective that God is worthy of our worship in every hour. In every hour He proves Himself as our faithful provider.

If we let our prayers be silenced, the world will gladly provide its own soundtrack. Maybe you’ve been listening to it today. It’s never too late to run into the arms of your Good Father the King. None of us can do this disconnected from Him. Yes, it’s humbling, but hope-infusing news: if we cling to the Rock that’s higher than what we see, He will see us through.

Here’s good news to carry into whatever you’re facing today: God isn’t afraid of your night terrors. Not in the slightest. In fact, it’s your night terrors that are afraid of your God. Because while He’s the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3) we can also be confident He’s the God of all power. Not once has He called for back up, not once has He lost a fight. Darkness may bellow for the final word, but don’t be fooled. It trembles in panic at His voice and scatters at His command.

When we find our hearts fearing the darkness, we’ve forgotten who is truly seated on the throne — the King of Glory. The Light of the World. The Prince of Peace. The Lord of Heavenly Hosts. Our misplaced fear of the shadows is overcome when we turn from staring at our doomed opponent and face the Light, the True Dawn.

To win the war against fear, we must know the true God as He is revealed in the Bible. He works to give us lasting peace. He receives joy, not from condemning us but in rescuing us from the devil. Yes, the Lord will bring conviction to our hearts concerning sin, but it is so He can deliver us from sin’s power and consequences. In its place, the Lord works to establish healing, forgiveness and peace.- Francis Frangipane

Reflection: Set your focus on Jesus. Let worship mark your life. Surrender yourself to Him. In the sunshine and in the shadows face the Dawn. You can rest assured He’ll sort the rest out.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you that you have already done everything so that I can have peace in my heart and mind. Please help me to learn how to accept and keep your peace in my heart. Show me how to take each unwanted thought captive to you in obedience so that I do not put on worry and fear. In Jesus name, Amen.
