God Speaks Through Your Bible

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:20-21

BIBLE WRITERS SPOKE FROM GOD

Scripture is not fanciful tales or incorrect history. It is pure, true, and trustworthy because it has come to us from our faithful God. Archeology has consistently proven the accuracy of the Bible, and all doubt cast on these points by secular society fall flat to the honest scholar. There is far more evidence pointing to the accuracy of the Scriptures than we could ever fathom possible.

Charles Spurgeon said, “Many books in my library are now behind and beneath me. They were good in their way once, and so were the clothes I wore when I was ten years old; but I have outgrown them. Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years”. The Bible is not just nice words from men. It is not simply the oldest and most accurate history book. It is not just the bestselling book of all time, packed with wonderful stories. The Bible is God’s words to us today, and everyday.

The Bible is wisdom, peace, comfort, correction and direction for your tomorrow. The Bible is the life-blood of the Christian, drawing them ever closer to Christ. The Bible is the greatest Book in all of humanity, and our greatest potential opportunity to know God more.

God has spoken, and is now speaking through the Bible. God is always ready to speak into our lives. We simply need to listen, tuning our ears and hearts to what he is saying in the book he inspired. When we open the Bible, we find more than 750,000 words breathed out by God himself for us. A.W. Tozer said, “The Bible is not only a book which was once spoken, but a book which is now speaking.” God wants to speak to us today, and everyday, through his word. God’s word is not simply “once spoken.” God’s word is always “now speaking.”

Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.

Charles Spurgeon

Reflection: Think about this: We cannot follow eternal truths unless we read and study the Scriptures.

Prayer: Father God, Author of Scripture, thank you for speaking directly to us through both supernatural and human means, in perfection. Show me the truth of your Word.
