And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
Isaiah 6:3
Isaiah 6:2-4 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. [3] And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook, and the temple was filled with smoke.
Isaiah beheld the glory of God and had a glimpse of his holiness. Three times the seraphim declared that the Lord is holy. It underscores that God is so set apart from our world, that there is not even a hint of evil about him. Such holiness requires that even the seraphim (burning ones) cannot expose their faces or feet in his presence. The weighty glory of God causes the doorposts and thresholds of the temple to shake. And his presence is revealed by a thick smoke.
In this figurative vision, the temple is thrown open to view, even to the most holy place. The prophet, standing outside the temple, sees the Divine Presence seated on the mercy-seat, raised over the ark of the covenant, between the cherubim and seraphim, and the Divine glory filled the whole temple. See God upon his throne. This vision is explained, Joh 12:41, that Isaiah now saw Christ’s glory, and spake of Him, which is a full proof that our Saviour is God. In Christ Jesus, God is seated on a throne of grace; and through him the way into the holiest is laid open. See God’s temple, his church on earth, filled with his glory. His train, the skirts of his robes, filled the temple, the whole world, for it is all God’s temple. Bible Hub
Can you imagine being in such a glorious, yet scary situation? I’m sure Isaiah would have fallen like the guards at the tomb that shook or became like a dead man at the resurrection of Jesus. Perhaps you are thinking that your life would change, too, if you had such an experience. But when we encounter the Lord upon our salvation, we, too, experience His glory and his holiness. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV says: And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Through Jesus today, we can all come into the presence of God with boldness and confidence. He is the same glorious and holy God, but now that we are forgiven in Christ and made holy, we can behold his glory and be transformed into his image. Will you thank God today for his glory and his holiness? Will you thank him that you partake of those through Christ? You will be on the path to extravagant worship.
Nothing is powerful to cleanse and comfort the soul, but what is taken from Christ’s satisfaction and intercession.

Reflection: God, Your Word urges me to pursue holiness because You are holy (1 Peter 1:16). According to Your wisdom and Word, guide me into a lifestyle that cultivates holiness both internally and externally in all I do and say. Let my words be few unless they reflect this character of Yours—holiness. Let what I do be done out of a heart that seeks to know You more and aspires to align my ways under Yours.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge Your holiness, and I stand before You in awe of Your holiness. As the angels declared in Your presence, “Holy, Holy, Holy” are You. There is no one like You. No one embodies all of what holiness entails and means but You. You are distinct. You are pure. You are perfect. You are unique. You are separate. You are outside of, yet within. You exist in unparalleled measures of holiness. Today, in my heart, I lift up Your name and the totality of who You are. I exalt You, standing in awe, knowing You alone can claim this title and this attribute in its entirety: Holy are You.
