The Power and Presence of God are Universal.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?  Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me

Psalm 139:7-10

I don’t know what you are going through, but I honor your feelings and your pain. And God does too. He is not just waiting for you to get over it. He’s not distant, disengaged, or disappointed in you. He wants to comfort you.

Once, Elijah felt so hopeless that he asked God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4). God heard him. He did not tell Elijah to just get over it or to have more faith. Instead, He had Elijah get some rest. He sent an angel with water and food to provide for him. God saw Elijah, knew what he needed, and cared for him in that dark moment.

We cannot see God, but he can see us. The psalmist did not desire to go from the Lord. Whither can I go? In the most distant corners of the world, in heaven, or in hell, I cannot go out of thy reach.

Psalm 139: 1-4 tells us that God has searched us and He knows us, He sees all of our thoughts and all of our actions. He knows every single word before it is on our tongue, and what’s most amazing is He stills loves us. None of those things change the way He feels about us, BUT the sharing of those things with Him, inviting Him into our trouble, inviting Him into our discouragement creates the connection we long for, the intimacy we were created for and the freedom we crave from the shame and discouragement that hold us back. I am committing, that no matter how hard or scary, or maybe even painful it may be, I will keep my heart wide open before my King and let Him make something new from my broken places.

No veil can hide us from God; not the thickest darkness. No disguise can save any person or action from being seen in the true light by him.

Reflections: I’m gonna trust you with my heart wide open. I don’t want to miss a thing because you take what was broken and make things new so I’m gonna trust you with my heart wide open” – Heart Wide Open

Prayer:  God, thank you for making me who I am. Let me see myself through your eyes. You are perfect, God. Nothing I think or feel is hidden from you. Help me discern where you are guiding me. Amen.
