Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night.
pssalm 1:1,2esv
One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 1. “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his Law Day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”(Psalm 1:1-3)
There is something about planting our lives in God’s Word and continuing to come back to it over and over throughout our lives. When we do this, it is like a tree planted by streams of water. It yields fruit in season, and it prospers in many ways. We can do this with God’s Word, when we keep coming back to it continually, when we delight in it, and when we meditate on it day and night. Plant your life near it. From God’s Word and our connection to Jesus flows streams of living water to our souls. As we are watered by living water of the words pouring into our hearts, we will be fruitful in God’s purpose for us, and we will prosper in many ways God has intended for us.
Is your delight in the law of God? Do you study God’s Word? Do you make it the man of your right hand – your best companion and hourly guide? If not, this blessing belongeth not to you.

We need to make Psalm 1 a daily reminder in our lives: “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
This passage isn’t just poetic; it’s profoundly practical. It’s not telling us to isolate ourselves from the world but to be discerning about where we draw our counsel and inspiration. It’s a call to immerse ourselves in God’s Word, to make it our daily bread. When we do that, we’re not just surviving; we’re thriving. We become like trees planted by streams of water, deeply rooted and abundantly fruitful.
So today, let’s hit the pause button and soak in the timeless wisdom of Psalm 1:1-3. let’s make a conscious choice. Let’s be those trees deeply rooted in the Word of God. Let’s turn off the noise of the world and tune into the symphony of His wisdom and love. Because when we do, we’re not just existing; we’re flourishing in the way God intended for us.
There are countless blessings, wisdom and power God wants to give us that will only come to us through reading and meditating on his Word.

Daily Reflections & Questions: There are two things that this passage calls us to do: walk away from sin and sinful advice and walk toward the Word of God. We are called to make the Scriptures our delight and our continual meditation day and night.
Daily Prayer: Dear Lord, today I want to be like a tree planted by Your streams of living water. Help me to turn off the noise of the world and to tune into Your eternal wisdom. May I find my delight in Your Word, drawing from it the nourishment I need to bear fruit in every season of life. Strengthen me to stand firm, deeply rooted in Your love, so that whatever I do may prosper for Your Kingdom. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
