Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6
Today’s reading speaks of the consistency of Jesus Christ. This Scripture encourages trust by reminding us of Jesus’s presence and help yesterday and today, which encourages faith for tomorrow. Other verses in this chapter of Hebrews speak of the supportive characteristics of the Lord. Verse 5 shares that the Lord said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. Verse 6 shares that the Lord is my helper. As I read on-line news, I think of the Lord my helper. And I have faith that He is with me and will be with me through whatever happens in the future.
This Scripture reminds me of the enduring comfort and support of Jesus Christ that I have experienced over the years. Thinking of how Jesus Christ has been consistently a source of peace and care in the past helps me trust in the peace and care he will provide in the future. The unchanging love of Jesus Christ is a source of faith, strength and courage today. Because of the enduring support of Jesus Christ, I trust for his healing presence today and in the future. In the midst of unpredictable current events, I think about these attributes of Jesus Christ and feel a sense of hope. “I will in no wise let thee go; no, nor will I forsake thee.” This promise of divine support and protection does not occur exactly in the same form in the Old Testament, but is clearly taken from Deuteronomy 31:6, “He will not fail thee nor forsake thee.”–Bible Hub.
God didn’t intend for us to go at it alone. When we realize we can’t, we open up the floodgates to the One Who can. His power is made perfect in our weakness. We may be frail, but He’s strong. We may be cracked, but He fills us. He is our constant help in times of trouble. He is our comforter in the scariest low places, and He’s the one who says, “Hey! Lay down and take a rest next to this peaceful stream.” He is NOT, the one who says, “You’re on your own this time.” In fact, I’m confident because He’s the one who says, “I am with you always. “As you pray, ask God to build faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ within you, your family, and your friends.
God’s voice of promises, and man’s answering voice of confidence. God speaks to us that we may speak to Him; and when He speaks His promises, the only fitting answer is to accept them as true in all their fulness fixed confidence. Bible Hub
