“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalms 19:1 NIV.
True Love Revealed through Creation
It is easy for most people to look at the world around us and see the glory of God. We can also see the brokenness of the world and the sinfulness of humanity, but the creation around us is gloriously, stunningly magnificent, even in its fallen state.
You may study the heavens and be amazed at the immensity of the galaxies. You look in the ocean and see unparalleled beauty. You see the colorful wildflowers, towering trees, and fascinating animals and stare in disbelief at the uniqueness and variety of creation. We look at the human body, from the process of procreation to the birth of a child to the growth and maturing of a human being and wonder at the design of it all. Indeed, everything about creation speaks loudly of the artistry, creativity, intricacies, brilliance, and power of God, the Creator. We can see the glory of God in all He has made.
The heavens declare the glory of God – They announce, proclaim, make known his glory.

Have you ever thought about what all this shows about God’s love for us? In revealing God’s glory through creation, we can see that His love is part of the unveiled glory. In the first chapter of the Bible, we read about all God created, including humankind. God made everything in all of the beauty and splendor that we see in the creation around us. Then, God gave it all to humanity. God gave the whole world to Adam and Eve to enjoy, telling them it was for them to fill and rule over.
God didn’t have to make beautiful flowers, but He did and gave them to us to enjoy. God did not have to make the sunset or night sky so beautiful, but He did and gave it to us to enjoy. God did not have to make the process of continuing the human race enjoyable, but He chose to make us so that it would be. We can see the expression of the deep, true love God has for all humanity in every detail of creation, from the taste of food to the gift of sleep, from the grandeur of the mountains to the delicate beauty of a butterfly.
The Heavens are a brushstroke of His genius, and you are made in His Image. The whole earth is full of His Glory. For you are the handiwork of God. You are His craftsmanship, and He cares about every detail of your life. For He is mindful of you. He cares about you. For you are the intricate work of His Hands. He crafted you for such a time as this. The Heavens declare His Glory, but you were made in His Image and after His Likeness. You were made to declare His Glory. May the Author and Architect of Heaven and Earth lead your decisions and shape the framework of your actions.
The heavens so declare the glory of God, and proclaim his wisdom, power, and goodness, that all ungodly men are left without excuse. They speak themselves to be works of God’s hands; for they must have a Creator who is eternal, infinitely wise, powerful, and good.
