And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Hebrees 11:6
In today’s devotional reading we see that having faith isn’t always easy. In Hebrews 11, the “Faith Chapter,” we hear story after story of people who had faith in God, even though they never got to see the results of their faith. God promised something to each of those people, and they trusted Him, but never got to see it happen! That doesn’t mean that God didn’t do what He said He would; He still carried through and did what He promised, because He always does. Even if we don’t see things happen right away, we still need to trust that God keeps His promises, and we still need to put our faith in Him.

Today’s Action: take some time to dive into one of the three stories mentioned in Hebrews 11 and read more about what God did through the hero’s faith. You can find Noah’s story in Genesis 6:9–22. Abraham’s story is in Genesis 17:1–8, and Sarah’s is in Genesis 18:9–15 and Genesis 21:1–6. As you read one of these stories, write down things you notice about the hero’s life. Then, take time to thank God for what He can do through your faith.
Today’s Prayer: Thank You, Father, for making me a new creation in Christ. Because I have the life and nature of God within me, I refuse to be moved by what I see or what I feel. I walk by faith in what your Word says about me. I am a new creation!
Faith begins as hope and indeed is unseen; so many doubt that it is real. What follows is the proof that faith is a reality that can be trusted.
